Last month I commented about waiting for the sun to start shining, and boy did I get my wish! Already in the throes of our second heat wave, and we are barely one week into the official start of summer. Unless you are laying on a float poolside, indoors with the AC on full blast is where it is at.
I am literally hiding inside, waiting for the sunset, to venture out like a vampire. Then it is game on - my favorite thing about the lazy, hazy days of summer. Ask my kids what I say, late at night, at the end of a 95-degree day. They are so sick of hearing: “Hey did I ever tell you about how much I love being outside, at night in a heatwave?”, that it has become a running joke in our house.
Those types of nights are far and few between – cooling off just enough from the heat of the day to hang without a care in the world. It is one of the reasons us New Yorkers put up with the deep freeze the other nine months of the year.
Not to mention when all the trees, shrubs and flowers wake up from their long winter slumber in an explosion of color, to come alive with the intensity of a vibrant painting. It is what keeps me going once Autumn’s chill rolls around, but that is a story for another day.
With the Fourth of July Holiday here as we speak, I am sure all your inboxes are chock full of summer sale emails. In honor of the holiday weekend, I thought it would be cool to highlight some of the places I have been hitting up for new swimwear.
Label B Swimwear Harlow Bottom – I found this website on Instagram and love their tagline: “Swimwear that doesn’t suck for the planet.” Sustainable swimwear made from recycled plastic bottles and other people’s leftover stuff. I held out in joining the “high waist anything” movement, because I felt that it accentuated the one area I did not want to call attention to – the menopause middle. However, the high waist is not only fashionable and flattering, but functional with that little extra bit of coverage. I got the nod of approval from my daughter who assured me that I neither looked like I was attempting to mimic her and her friends, nor matronly in trying to draw the eye away from the area that makes me feel self-conscious.
Label B Mego Top – I liked the style of this tank to pair with the Harlow Bottom. They also offer a one shoulder, bandeau, or traditional triangle bikini top. Label B may be a small company, with limited options, yet they restock and drop new merchandise throughout the season. I think it is fun to check out some of these “undiscovered” sites.
Everything But Water – Hunza G Classic Square Neck One Piece. I recently discovered this London based brand. They offer one piece and separate options in their signature crinkle stretch Nile fabric in one size that fits from size 4-12. This lemon color reminds me of a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade.
Solid and Striped – Scottie Top Marshmallow square neckline that pairs crisp white with one of the hottest colors this season – Kelly green.
Solid and Striped - Scottie Bottom Marshmallow coordinating high waist bottom. Throw on a button down shirt as a cover up, or a t-shirt dress and sandals for a look that takes you from sand to sunset cocktails.
L*Space– Everyday Pursuits Gizelle Bikini Top in cream. How amazing is this gingham stretch top that has extra wide straps can be pulled down on the shoulder for a flirty feminine look?
L*Space– Everyday Pursuits Frenchi Bikini Bottom in cream. This high waist, high cut leg coordinates with the Gizelle Bikini Top in a super comfy, stretchy textured gingham fabric.
Montce– Lilac Sparkle Dainty Bikini Top. This bikini top touches on another big trend for summer – metallic sparkle. Underwire cups with adjustable straps. Also offered in Mauve sparkle or assorted colors in ribbed micro scrunchie fabric.
Montce– Lilac Sparkle Paula Bikini Tie Up Bottom. This high cut leg offers more moderate coverage with a front tie reminiscent of the 80’s. Choose this, traditional high waist or thong/Brazilian cut for the truly daring.
Frankies Bikinis – Francesca Bralette Triangle Bikini Top in pink paisley. Also offered in blue paisley, black, watercolor floral and patchwork, it’s your quintessential summer bikini top that can be coordinated with bottoms, and accessories to complete the “three piece swimwear” trend. This look goes beyond a matching coverup, think pants, hats, skirts and sunglasses. Check out some of these options:
Frankies Bikinis – Gavin Cheeky Bottom in pink paisley.
Frankies Bikinis – Jax Bucket Hat in pink paisley.
Frankies Bikinis – Fifi Silk Button Up Shirt in pink paisley.
Frankies Bikinis – Fifi Silk High Waist Boxer Short in pink paisley.
Bikinis. One Pieces. Tankinis. Coverups. Accessories. Black that is anything but basic. More colors than a bowl of sherbet. The sky’s the limit when it comes to showing off your unique style poolside or at the beach.
Dive in, grab your sunscreen and off you go…
I think I actually asked a few people last week how their summer was. One day I was wearing shorts and then poof. Over. It felt like the fastest summer on record. Driving nonstop rain, temps plummeting into the 40’s – it was as if someone was playing a cruel joke on us, and we were back to November. I spent seventy-two hours mumbling to myself as I turned the heat off and on. Pretended to clean and organize some long-neglected rooms and closets, wondering what to blog about.
May 31st, Memorial Day, and the skies began to clear. The rain stopped. The clouds lifted and so did my mood. This time of the year, the sun warms us without much effort, and suddenly more than the skies were bright. I got to thinking about all the cliches: the future is bright, looking on the bright side of things, and let me tell you, the signs are everywhere. From clothing to jewelry, nail polish to footwear, a kaleidoscope of color abounds, cheering us up and getting us excited for the long summer days.
Hot Pink, Lemon Yellow, Bold Tangerine, Sky Blue and Neon Green – pick your favorite shade and go.
Essie’s Summer 2021 Collection comes in six vibrant citrus hues like Tangerine Tease, Feelin’ Just Lime and my new favorite, Zest Has Yet To Come. It’s like holding a juicy orange, a sour lime or a little bit of sunshine right in the palm of your hand. A fun way to bring a little bold and daring to your style without going overboard in a head-to-toe hue.
Hot Pink. Bubblegum. Bright Pink. All the shades that instantly bring a smile to your face and put some pep in your step. This fuchsia menswear blazer from Zara covers two hot trends with one look: an oversized blazer, in an absolute must have color. I styled mine with a white button down and jeans. Add to a t shirt and bike shorts, or match with the pleated menswear trousers to dial up the cool factor.
Not sure who came up with this color combo – but just like a summer watermelon – green and pink are just the right amount of FUNtastic. These quilted sandals come in green and remind me of fresh cut grass, or choose bright white. Either color will make your pink POP.
What’s easier than throwing on a t shirt dress when temps are soaring. Wear it with sneakers to run around during the day, or a strappy lace up sandal for a night on the town. ORANGE you glad I told ya?
Varenne Cashmere Tank and Cardi Set. This versatile set is cool and calming like the bright blue sky. It can be worn together or as separates. The Tank is perfect for warmer summer days – I love it with a white, Bermuda length short. The cardigan is perfect for cooler nights over a slip dress or with your favorite white jeans.
The classic hoop earring just got an electric makeover. Made from titanium, the metallic rainbow finish is both iridescent and irresistible.
How brilliant is this? A rainbow hued wrist band that has two small zipper pouches to store small valuables while you work out, cook or get a manicure.
Roxy Resin Ring Set available in three different color combinations. Funky and sassy. Just the perfect punch of color to accessorize a summertime look.
Two pack of beaded multicolored necklaces. With a crisp white t-shirt and cutoffs, it brings all the dizzying and dazzling summer colors together at once.
In keeping with the spirit of all things bright - I thought it would be fun to tell you all about a trend that has caught my interest lately. UPCYCLING. Also known as the creative reuse of repurposing unwanted goods into newer products that have a fresh, artistic quality to them. Imagine re-using stuff you already own and fashioning it into treasures that continue to be current, relevant, and simply put, feel good.
Ever wonder what to do with all those t shirts that you know you should no longer wear, but can’t bear to part with? Here’s your answer. Use them in a t shirt quilt or pillow. Unique and functional, with all the memories that come rushing back as you recall the times that made each one so special. Simply send in your shirts and this company will handcraft your own personalized quilt. Great as a gift for that person who has everything. I made one for my son with all his college t shirts and loved it so much, I had to get one too. My college, my kids’ schools, vacation places combined with the oddly numerous collection of sarcastic graphic t’s I own, are now forever stitched together in this awesome memory.
I just may have been snuggling under it last week while I was waiting for that endless rainstorm to end…😉
We MAY'd it. Right? All those April showers are bringing May flowers, and signs of renewal are all around us. Overnight, the Japanese Maple tree at the bottom of my front walk has blossomed. Literally. I went away for the weekend, walking by the bare branches on my way out and came home to the most amazing sight of feathery, burgundy leaves blowing in the spring breeze. I know we are all tired of hearing about re-opening yet getting away for a few days made me want to put on something other than sweats for a change.
Don't faint - #IPutOnJeans.
Yup, you heard correctly - actual denim fabric touched this body again. Lucky for me, and everyone else out there, tight, mind numbing skinny jeans have temporarily taken a back seat and left the center stage free for a more relaxed look. Straight leg, wide leg, bootcut, there is a little something for everyone.
Iconic Wedgie Ankle Fit. Classic, timeless, high waist and hugs your butt in that perfect flattering way. Who doesn't want to rock a pair of Levi's? Levi's can tend to run on the smaller size, so you may want to order up or try a few different sizes.
Madewell Classic Straight Leg Jean - ultra high waist, with just enough give to be super sexy in that old school way.
Citizens of Humanity Charlotte High Rise Straight Jean. Button fly, distressed with
Feeling a little daring - what about an asymmetrical waistline or a colored wash?
AGOLDE Crisscross High waist Jean. Button fly, non-stretch with a waistline that just screams "look at me"! Try it with a bright knit cropped sweater, or sleek bodysuit.
Zara Mid Rise Straight Leg Slit Jean. Need to kick it up a notch?
The ankle slit and light apple green color will elevate your style to a whole other level. Finish with a blazer and a pair of sandals or kitten heels and you will be turning heads, left and right.
AE Skater Jean - you don't need to skateboard to wear this cool, baggy jean - just add a cute T-shirt and you’re all set.
Boyish -The Kinglsey Highrise Comfort Stretch Flare Jean. All you need to know about these bad boys, are that they will give you legs for days. You're welcome.
Mother's Day is right around the corner - and whether you have kids or not, we are all mothers in some shape or fashion. We love, nurture and care for our friends and family, so here's to all the moms out there. Treat yourself to a new pair of jeans, buy yourself some beautiful flowers and remember how special each one of you are!
Happy Mother's Day to my mom Bonnie and my mother-in-law Janet - thanks for always being in my corner.
To Jesse and Olivia - my whole heart - I thank my lucky stars I get to be your mamallama!
Daylight Savings. You got your lovers and your haters. It’s dark when you get up. Your circadian rhythms are all messed up. Then again – the light, the light, the light…I mean, c’mon people it’s light out until after 7pm these days, and Spring has barely sprung. And doesn’t that make you feel, well somehow, LIGHTER? I know I do. We haven’t quite reached those “April Showers that usher in May Flowers”, but… You can see it. You can smell it. It’s tangible, the hint of change is in the air. Spring is a fickle friend – the temps fluctuate and toss us around like riding on a wild roller coaster. Bare arms, bare feet, sun-kissed cheeks, warmed with the promise of the summer sun. Sweaters, boots and coats that refuse to be banished to the back of the closet. I’m experiencing one of those days right now, all bundled up, biting back 🤬🤬🤬. “Hold on. Hold on” is my mantra. Then I look around and see the sign I am looking for, the first blooms on the forsythia trees. Bright yellow, reaching for the sky, and always the first reminder that better times are coming. The payoff for the cold and dark NY winters. The dreariness will disappear soon enough, like a dream within a dream. Spring is a time of rebirth and reawakening from our long slumber. Some of us are raring to go, others need a little more time, patience, and prodding. It is ok. We all go at our own pace. Vaccine eligibilities are a GO for all the LB50 girls (I always knew there was a silver lining to this over 50 thing). I’m ready to expand my social circle and hug all my friends again. While the annual GIRLTRIP is on hiatus for just a bit longer, I think a girlfriend slumber party is just what the doctor ordered. Besties & Booze. Snacks and Sunsets. Outdoor Fires and Fashions. Prosecco and Pajamas. Treat yourself to a new pair of PJs and get gossiping. Need some inspiration? Look no further, we got you covered!
Serena and Lily - Positano Linen Pajamas have a relaxed fit in six colors, that get softer with every wearing. The linen fabric cools off the hottest sleepers, but still manages to keep you warmer on chillier nights.
Anthropologie – Puppy Love Pajama Set. Puppies – what else do you need to know?
Anthropologie 2.0 - Lily Pajama Set. Yellow sunshine. Forsythias – remember?
Ralph Lauren - Striped Cotton Sleepshirt in pink or blue with the classic Ralph Lauren emblem on the front pocket. Like you stole it right from your guy’s closet.
J. Crew - Vintage Pajama Set available in four colors. Traditional menswear inspired fit. Monogram available. Take the look outside – mix the pants with a slouchy sweater or throw the top over a fitted tank and jeans.
Lunya - Treat yourself to the ultimate luxury with this washable shorty silk set, over ten colors to choose from.
Something Navy - Bedshort Stripe Rainbow Stripe. Short set made of sustainable fibers that breathe all night long. Rainbow pattern shouts happiness.
BodySheets Co - Don’t forget the tootsies…these fuzzy slippers come in black or beige and are the perfect compliment to all your PJs.
Ugg - Silly slippers sure to make you smile. Everyone has a pair of Ugg boots in their closet, why not add a pair of fun slippers? The Fluff Yeah combines the original sheepskin slipper with a sandal in 14 fun colors. Best yet, they are made in a collaboration with HERproject, creating partnerships that empower and educate women in the workplace. Feel good while you look good.
Amazon - Top of any of these looks with a super cozy Sherpa bathrobe. The cuddle factor just went way, way up.
Etsy - Complete the slumber party with these silly sleep masks. Order one for each of the girls and hand out at the end of the night. Sweet Dreams...
I'm wishing you all a very happy Spring! Slumber peacefully! I'll see you next month! ~ Marla! XO
Well - we are in the thick of it now, aren't we? As I noodle around on this page, the wind is howling, and we are smack dab in the middle of the coldest temps to hit our area in over two YEARS. I think Mother Nature is throwing just enough shade to remind us who's boss, but hey, look at the bright side - it is February after all - AND it is the shortest month of the year. By the time the next 28 days roll by, March will be knocking on our doors, and we can take comfort in the fact that we are heading towards Spring.
Personally, everyday seems like BLURSDAY right now, the winter blues and blahs have me struggling to get dressed up and make a huge effort. Instead of fighting the tide, I am going to embrace it, put on a happy face, and reach for my matching sweats. I have often wondered at what age we automatically turn into our parents, feeling really excited about putting on the matching blue polyester top and bottom, usually worn to the weekly beauty parlor appointment. I KNOW everyone out there knows exactly what I'm talking about and has witnessed this phenomenon before.
Perhaps one of the good things to come out of this quarantine, is the way we think about our clothing choices. Designers and influencers are constantly coming up with new ways to look stylish without sacrificing comfort. Matching sweatshirts and sweatpants have come a long way from the "GARANIMALS" concept you remember from being a kid. Today’s looks are 100% acceptable in public, far from looking like you ran out the door in your pajamas. Ironically, it seems like the days I actually put-on jeans, boots, sweaters and make up, everyone wants to know where I am actually going. Hoodies with joggers, track pants with traditional crew necks. Colors, colors, colors - literally every shade in ROYGBIV, are up for grabs. Prints, patterns, camouflage, embroidered and embellished. If you can think of it, you can probably find it. Now it's hip and funky to dress this way - gotta love the nature of trends...
In honor of keeping cozy, looking trendy, all the while keeping your sanity, here are 28 websites where you can mix and match sweatpants and sweatshirts, that show off your personal style and taste...

Until next time, stay safe, stay warm, stay happy…see you soon. XO, Marla
...Don’t worry – I’m not still tipsy from New Year’s Eve and you are reading this sentence correctly. To be fair they are Scandinavian words, and their pronunciations can leave one a bit tongue tied, so let’s clarify.
Friluftsliv is a word and concept from Norway. It’s pronounced FREE-loofts-liv, and the simple translation is “open-air living”.
Hygge is a Danish term, pronounced hoo-guh. While there is no literal translation, in simplest terms, it’s about embracing a lifestyle of coziness and warmth.
After ten months in quarantine, I thought it might be fun to take a break from all things trendy and fashion, by devoting this month’s blog to what I have been up to... So back to reality. After the third article I read about Friluftsliv in the last few weeks, I knew the Danes were onto something. The long, sunny days of summer have disappeared like a dream within a dream. Daylight is fleeting and temps are downright chilly. Makes you want to hibernate inside with the remote and stay there ‘til May. Couch potatoes take heart and learn to love FRILUFTSLIV – celebrating the great outdoors, no matter what the calendar or thermometer may say. A common sentiment expressed in all the articles was “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes”.
I am not suggesting the polar plunge my cousin just posted as part of his New Year’s Day celebration, but who could say no to a backyard bonfire? We have all adapted and found ways to get creative and bring the indoors, outside. After the big snowstorm we had a few weeks ago, my son carved out “seats” for us in the snow. We lit a fire, donned the ski clothes, grabbed some hot chocolate, a bottle of wine, and got down to the business of CHILLING. Turns out, it’s not as bad as you think – there’s something refreshing and revitalizing about being in the elements and at one with nature.
1. FIREPITS AND OUTDOOR HEATERS - Amazon, Home Depot and Lowe’s are all great resources.
2. LIGHT 'N GO BONFIRE LOGS - Ready to burn, they light easily with a match. Burn Baby Burn:
3. ELECTRIC BLANKETS - Game Changer. Plug them in, spread them out on the seats outside, and pop a squat. Instant #ToastyTushy. Add baskets of extra blankets for your guests to snuggle under and you can literally sit for hours. Banish the Brrr:
4. S’MORES - Self-explanatory: Mucho Marshmallows, Hershey Bars, Graham Crackers. You’re Welcome. Try this neat little gadget to make the process a little bit easier: Marshmallow Roasting Stick Set. A retractable telescopic stick with a fork on one end, keeps fingers clean and out of the fire. S'mores Sticks:
5. LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS - Leggings, snow pants, fleece hoodies, wool socks, shearling boots, down coats, hats, gloves, ski gators, handwarmers for your mittens and shoes. The more you add, the better you are protected against the chill, the longer you last outside.
Judging by the way 2020 unfolded, we all know Mother Nature does not always cooperate. Some days will be raw and dreary with icy rain. Don’t despair, just swap out Friluftsliv for Hygge and let the cozy continue. The best part is that there’s no right or wrong. Physical coziness makes us all feel content and has amazing psychological benefits to boot.
1. WEIGHTED BLANKETS– they combine the softness of a fuzzy throw while adding some serious weight to them. Studies have shown they can ease symptoms of stress and anxiety with the deep touch pressure that calms our sensory nervous system. Wrap Yourself In A Hug:
2. PLAY A GAME- Board games, puzzles, cards – it’s a built-in day of togetherness with a side of healthy competition. These are some of our favs: Scattergories, Codenames, Rummikub, Mexican Train Dominoes or OK Boomer if you are a trivia champ. Card sharks, give May I, (a version of double deck rummy) a try. May I Rules.Everyone jumped on the puzzle band wagon last spring, why not put a twist on things and start a Puzzle Swap Club? My friends and I take turns completing a new puzzle, adding our names and dates on the back once finished. Then we trade them around. White Mountain and Ridley’s Games have a wide variety to choose from. Puzzle Time:
3. COOK OFFS - There are only so many Taco Tuesdays or Take-out dinners one can stomach. When boredom sets in, invite someone from your pod over to have a cook off. Each person chooses whatever dish they would like to create, and then gather to cook. Don’t forget a glass of wine. The results are yummy and a fun way to spend an evening. Unleash your favorite Food Network star and get going.
4. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE - I recently decided to brush up on my French skills. The fact that I graduated with a minor in French, seems to have very little bearing on my proficiency with the language. Believe it or not, the DuoLingo App reminded me I actually remember a thing or two. It’s fun and easy to download and practice on your phone. Oooh La La:
5. MEDITATE - Trust me – it helps. What works for one person, will probably be very different for the next, but carving out just 10 minutes a day to ground yourself could be just what the doctor ordered. The Calm App, has daily guided meditations, sleep stories, musicsoundscapes, allows you to jot down daily reflections and is not as corny as you think.
It has been a tough year, but we can get through this. It’s 2021 now. Time for new beginnings, healing, health, and happiness. We just have to hang on a little longer. Remember to breathe and smile. Sometimes that’s hard to do under a mask, but I believe in you!
See you next month!! XO - Marla
Before anyone starts to panic or thinks that I’m trying to steal Tracy’s “fitness blog thunder”, you can all relax. I’m talking pants, not exercise, so chill before hitting send on the negative comments. Instead, let’s do a deep dive into a “Bottom”, that’s a Top 10, for sure.
Unless you have been living in the wilderness for months, I’m sure you are all familiar with the “Zoom top”. All my girls know what I’m talking about. It’s your go to sweater or blazer, usually flung on the back of your chair, just out of the camera’s reach, ensuring you look polished and feel put together for those important meetings. The one that says: “my hair is in a top knot because the shower hasn’t happened yet. Or “I’m giving myself an A+ for brushing my teeth and making my bed before my Zoom Meeting, even if I am still in my PJ bottoms or ripped sweats”.
We are all beyond weary from the whole “Work and Play from Home”, but if I have learned anything over the spring, summer and fall, it’s this – slipping on something fresh, cute, or fun, makes you feel like a whole new person. It boosts your creativity and productivity, and anything positive these days is a win. So, don’t just make sure you look camera ready from the waist up, go the extra mile; ditch the stretched, worn out pants, and I promise you will feel fantastic from top to bottom.
Let’s get to it…THE JOGGER. The grown up and stylish cousin of the sweatpant, it’s cozy meets chic, and it’s here to stay! Less restricting than traditional leggings, the fit is slightly roomier, skimming the body, usually with the added bonus of pockets. This really is a versatile piece, a must for anyone’s wardrobe. Walk the dog, run an errand, get in a workout or meet a friend for a socially distanced backyard cocktail, stress free because you are looking fantastic and ready to rock this trend.
See below for my TOP PICKS!
....reminiscent of the original grey sweatpant.
The Signature Soft Blend Sweatpant from Lou & Grey, is super soft and cozy, in a wide range of colors. Pair with your favorite T, or their matching sweatshirt. All that’s left to do is grab your book and settle in for an afternoon reading by the fire. These babies will have you dreaming that you are still in bed.
– meet your new best friend –
the Performance Jogger from Vuori.
Drawstring waist and relaxed fit, minus the saggy/baggy look of your old-fashioned sweats. Four way stretch fabric keeps you comfy on the couch while you catch up on some Netflix. Company drops by unexpectedly, no sweat (pun intended), ‘cause you are looking good!
Amazon’s, Gym People Joggers are a steal, treat yourself to multiple colors. Flat, elastic waist band, with a tapered leg, you will be stylish as you join a friend for a “post turkey day” workout session. Shake off the tryptophan induced carb coma and take these joggers out for a REAL JOG! Exercise lovers rejoice!
...Well, almost! The Align Jogger from Lulu Lemon is a higher end option, perfect for yoga, pilates, or your favorite workout. Their signature Nulu fabric, is nicknamed the “naked pant”, for its butter soft feel. High waistband, that doesn’t squeeze, it comes in bunch of colors and lengths.
Ready to head out the door and meet a work colleague – then check out Athleta for some trendy travel pants. Grab your blazer, backpack and athleisure sneakers for a polished look. The Venice Jogger, Brooklyn Lined Jogger and the Headlands Hybrid Trek Jogger are sophisticated and stylish.
Kick it up a notch with a pair of faux leather joggers. Add a chunky knit sweater and combat boots for a boozy brunch or leather jacket and heels for a night out with the girls. The ultimate “function meets fashion” trend.
Say hello to your old friend...the shoulder pad! She’s baaaack! Repurposed and reimagined - think a little less 80’s Working Girl and a little more Judy Jetson getting her fashion on. Most of us gals have already lived through “shoulder pads” first inception. The power blazers we proudly wore in the office, said: “we are a force to be reckoned with”, and if you’re reading this post, chances are you have the pics to prove it.This time around the shoulder pad is doing its thing in a casual, less serious, tongue in cheek way. From classic t-shirts and long sleeve tops, to bodysuits and sweatshirts, it appears everyone wants a piece of the action. The style IS the trend, and the first thing you notice about the look. It gives your tops a more modern and structured feel. I must admit, the first time I saw one of my friends in a t-shirt this summer, with “super sized shoulders”, I thought to myself: “hmmm, are we really going here?”. However, my shoulders were singing a different tune. They were really into the idea of being the center of attention, so here we are.
Trendy??? YES – but you got this!!! Be fearless and get your fun on. This girl is probably more of a “one season wonder” than a long-term commitment, but isn’t that half the fun?
October’s apple picking golds, yellows, reds and oranges, multi colored leaves still falling in nature’s kaleidoscope, and everything pumpkin, from lattes to scented candles. That can only mean one thing: time to spotlight a trend that is never out of style, the Cashmere top.
If the shoulder pad craze isn’t for you, this look is so timeless, it’s hard to label it a trend.
Sweatshirt, hoodie, cardigan, in all the colors of the kaleidoscope, from bargain prices to
ultra-luxe, here’s a trend that has something for everyone.
Sweatshirt hoodie meets cashmere sweater. Fresh, cute, and absolutely polished for those zoom meetings.
Amazon has many options, offering a variety of styles and price points. Pullover hoodies zip up sweaters or cardigans to name a few.
And check out
V-necks, crew necks with button or this notch collar “polo”, here’s another company that offers a range of tops at a discounted price.
This company offers a “sweatshirt style” top in a variety of colors at a price point that will have you wanting to grab one more color.
Angela D. from East Meadow NY asked, I just heard tye-dye is back in. Is it appropriate and how can a 55 year old woman get away with wearing it?
Thanks for reaching out - we love connecting with each and everyone of our new LB50 squad. Sorry for the delay, we are a work in progress, still figuring out the kinks, so thanks for your patience.
To answer your question, Tie-Dye was probably one of the biggest trends of the year, seems to be sticking around, and honestly it’s available to anyone. Age shouldn’t have any bearing as to whether or not you can join in the fun.
The key is being true to who you are. Maybe your personality is larger than life, so be bold, and rock a matching sweatshirt with sweatpants. If you’re more of a laid back, low key gal, try one smaller item, like a long sleeve top, scarf or mask.
While spring and summer were all about pastels and neon colors, fall tends to usher in different colors and fabrications. Look for darker, more muted shades in cozy cottons and fleece - just remember to wear it with confidence and a smile!
Don’t forget to tag us when you do. 😊 -Marla!
